Glacier - Ambient Freeze, Reverb & Delay

Updated 26 Oct 2026• PDF 106 KBDownload PDF

This manual covers every parameter in Glacier v1.0.0, from the global controls down to individual delay and reverb settings. Use the headings below to jump to a section, or read start to finish if you’re setting Glacier up for the first time.

Description

Glacier is a delay + reverb space designer plug-in. A tempo-syncable stereo/ping-pong delay and a dense FDN reverb (Hall or Shimmer) run in series, in either order. Four global controls shape both effects at once:

  • Chill — brighter, glassier, more crystalline wet signal without changing decay.
  • Dispersion — smears, choruses and widens the repeats; sweeps reverb width.
  • Freeze — holds the current delay and reverb sound indefinitely while dry passes through.
  • Duck — pulls the wet signal down while input is playing, so it blooms back in the gaps.

The delay has a -12 to +12 semitone pitch shifter on its output, latency-compensated so repeats stay on time. Glacier adds no latency to the dry signal.

Formats & Installation

Formats: VST3 (Windows, macOS), AU (macOS), AAX (Windows, macOS). 64-bit only. Stereo out; mono or stereo in.

Install paths:

  • Windows VST3: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
  • Windows AAX: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins
  • macOS VST3: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3
  • macOS AU: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
  • macOS AAX: /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins

Signal Flow

Audio In → Delay → Reverb → Global Mix → Out (Routing swaps the Delay/Reverb order)

  • FX Gain on each effect sets its wet level only; dry passes through each effect at unity.
  • Chill, Dispersion, Duck, Freeze and Kill act on both effects.
  • Zero latency, none reported to the host. Synced times use host tempo (120 BPM if none is available).

Global Controls

Audio In

0 = silence, center = unity (default), max = +12 dB. Applies to the dry signal too. Not changed by presets or INIT.

Global Mix

Equal-power dry/wet. 0% = dry only, 100% = wet only (default 50%).

Routing

Dly > Rev (default) or Rev > Dly. A lit LED shows the active order.

Sync

Tempo-syncs both the delay Time and the reverb Predelay.

Delay

Time

Free: 0–2000 ms (default 200). Sync: 1/1, 1/2 dotted, 1/2, 1/4 dotted, 1/3, 1/4, 1/8 dotted, 1/6, 1/8, 1/16 dotted, 1/12, 1/16, 1/24, 1/32 (default 1/4), max 4 s. Small changes glide (tape-style pitch bend); jumps over 50 ms crossfade.

Feedback

0–100% (default 40). Capped below self-oscillation. Repeats darken each pass unless Chill is raised.

Pitch

-12 to +12 semitones (default 0). Shifts the delay output, not the loop, so every repeat has the same shift. With Pitch engaged, repeats can’t arrive earlier than ~100 ms, so Time settings below ~100 ms come out late.

FX Gain

Delay wet level, -∞ to 0 dB (default -3 dB).

Reverb

Type

Hall, or Shimmer (octave-up regeneration; amount rises with Depth).

Size

Room size (default 50%).

Depth

Decay time, 20 ms–10 s (default 4 s).

Predelay

Free: 0–500 ms (default 20). Sync: 0, 1/64, 1/32, 1/24, 1/16, 1/12, 1/8, 1/6, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 1/1 (default 1/64), max 2 s.

FX Gain

Reverb wet level, -∞ to 0 dB (default -5.4 dB).

Macros

Chill

0–100%. Brightens the wet signal: repeats keep their highs, reverb lows are thinned and highs lifted, reverb modulation stills, with subtle detuned sparkle and a noise “erosion” sizzle at high settings. Never changes decay time.

Dispersion

0–100%. On the delay: in-loop smear (each repeat more diffuse), chorus, a wider image, and adds to Delay Width (100% = full ping-pong). On the reverb: width ranges from narrow (0%) to extra wide (100%), level-compensated. Also widens Chill’s erosion noise.

Duck

0–100%. Lowers both wet outputs while input is present (full depth from around -24 dBFS; 4 ms attack, 250 ms release). Tails keep running underneath.

Freeze

The diamond logo button. Holds the delay and reverb loops indefinitely and stops new input entering them; dry signal still passes. ~120–150 ms fade in/out. Chill, Dispersion, Duck, FX Gain and Global Mix still affect the frozen sound.

Notes

  • Free and Sync Time/Predelay are separate host parameters (Delay Time / Delay Division, Reverb Predelay / Predelay Division). Automate the one matching your Sync setting.
  • Freeze and Kill are saved in presets. If there’s no wet signal, check that Kill isn’t engaged.
  • Reported tail length is infinite (because of Freeze). Set bounce tails manually.

Presets

Controls: INIT | < | Name | > | Save

  • INIT resets all parameters except Audio In.
  • < / > step through the current folder. Name opens the folder menu; an asterisk (*) marks a modified preset.
  • Save writes to the User folder and warns before overwriting.
  • Location: ~/Music/FlickSwitch/GLACIER/Presets (macOS), %USERPROFILE%\Music\FlickSwitch\GLACIER\Presets (Windows). .glacier files; subfolders appear as menu folders.

Also worth setting: Version → “1.0.0”, and Product Name if it needs to differ from the manual title.
